While writing on the train into the city this morning, my mind started wandering a bit. I’m a person who tends to prefer stories written in third person. Doesn’t mean I won’t read a first person story… or that I will only write in third person.

I have a short story that’s a first person POV. But I digress.

For me, I know how the story feels best in my mind. Some things feel like they’re one POV or another.

So for those of you out there reading this, I suppose my question is this: is there a story POV you prefer over another? Or, for that matter, is there one you prefer to write in?

Third. I’m not a fan of first person, although it seems the YA genre likes first person just fine.

Obviously if the story is in first person, well, there’s usually nothing one can do about it–it just is in first person. But yeah, given a choice I’d rather read (and write) things in third person.
